Well, looks like another hotel is on the Southie horizon! We are about to get a new and very luxurious hotel complete with a giant ballroom, 1054 rooms (holy moly),rooftop pool and maybe even a skating rink!

The Omni Boston Seaport Hotel will be located on Summer Street across from the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center and will have 1,054 rooms.  The giant two 20 story-tower complex will also feature a 8,500-square-foot spa and fitness center, many restaurants and retail.

Ground breaking ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 22nd at 9:30am.  On hand with ceremonial shovels will be: Governor Charlie Baker, Mayor Marty Walsh, Massport CEO Tom Glynn and Managing Partner of New Boston Hospitality John G. Davis.

The project is estimated to be $550 million and will start construction in September.  This hotel will be built without parking but is conveniently located from the “Transportation Center.”

My condo has slowly turned from a starter home into a legacy asset that will never leave my family. But I guess I’m still a transplant yuppie with puppies, right?

Pray for no more interest rate increases….a lot of these property values are buoyed by cheap debt.

So new transportation center has 1500 parking spots and new hotel has 1054 rooms and a giant ballroom. That leaves 446 spots in transportation center if all guests drive. I’m sure not all guests drive but you never know. Don’t think new transportation center solved anything but the hotels parking problem.

Right….because all 1054 rooms will be occupied at the exact same time.
