Mike Kelley Thanks Supporters as Campaign Enters Stretch up to Final Election
Mike Kelley addressed a packed room of supporters in the South End last night following a top-two finish in his race for District 2 City Council. Calling out the campaign’s message of inclusivity throughout District 2, Kelley congratulated all candidates in the seven-person race, and thanked voters and his supporters for a great run up to the Preliminary Election.
Kelley pointed to the results as a sign that District 2 is ready for leadership in City Hall that represents all residents, in every part of the district.
“Our message of inclusion has resonated with voters,” said Kelley to the energetic crowd inside the Banyan restaurant, where his campaign held an election night watch party. “I see proof of that every day when people share their desire to be part of something bigger than themselves.”
Kelley pointed to the divisive political discourse that has gripped the country nationwide, in contrast to the strong community effort that helped energize voters leading up to this preliminary.
“In this campaign, we are about bringing people together,” he continued, recalling conversations over the past several months with residents from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives. “No matter who you are, where you are from, how long you have been here or who you love, you are our District 2!”
In coming weeks leading up to the Nov. 7 final election, Kelley said he will be out every day, connecting and talking with voters about the vital issues impacting District 2 residents. Kelley said he will continue to discuss his priorities, including a commitment to constituent services, housing affordability for all, access to rapid and reliable public transit, and making sure all schools are excellent.
