A little birdie told us that The Punk & Poet (formerly The Playwright) will be opening its doors on Thursday – just in time for the weekend!  Expect a complete 180 degrees from The Playwright – with a bright and edgy interior -with plaid fabric covered booths and eclectic artwork.   The exterior is now a bright red – which we’re loving!

The menu will feature small shareable plates like buffalo cauliflower, lettuce wraps and quesadillas.  Plus larger meals like cast iron flank steak, stuffed meatball casserole and broiled scrod!  There are also salads, burgers and sandwiches too!

Punk & Poet Sangria, The Clash – a concoction of tequila, St. Germain, Aperol, house simple syrup, lemon and Angostura Bitters – and Pink Poet – pink gin, pink grapefruit, elderflower and Peychauds bitters – are just a few of their featured cocktails!

Make sure to stop by and check it out!  Let us know if you go!  The opening of The Punk & Poet is the first step in transforming the East Broadway eating/drinking scene.  The Broadway – located right down the street –  hopes to open its doors in October.

Also, can we get the comment times calibrated properly? They show up posted as 4 hours ahead.

It’s a little too bold for the neighborhood in my opinion. I respect the attempt of being original, but there’s a reason true punk died in the 90’s.
