Be safe, Southie! After recent attacks on women in the South Boston area, a special community meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 21st at 7pm at the South Boston Boys & Girls Club – 230 West Sixth Street.  This meeting will focus on information, education and action. Be informed. Get involved.

Did you know pumpkins float?  Well, apparently the DCR did because it’s time for the Annual Neponset Great Pumpkin Float at Pop John Pall II Park in Dot on Tuesday, October 20th at 6pm – registration starts at 5:30pm. This wildly popular family event encourages you to bring a 6-8 inch hollow & carved pumpkin to the event. Each jack-o-lantern will have a candle inserted and lit before being launched en mass in the water at 6pm.  Floats and candles will be provided.   Free hot cocoa and candy treats will also be provided. The event is free and no registration is required.  This is the 14th year of this Dorchester tradition when hundreds of kids in costumes and their families participate in the floating parade of pumpkins!

Raise your glass for South Boston Irish Whiskey.  This is perfect whiskey weather and Grand Ten Distilling (383 Dorchester Ave.) features a smooth one with “a soft, creamy body, perfect for a long night of slow sips.”  We are getting warmer already!  You can taste South Boston Irish Whiskey each Saturday at 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm on their free tours and the tasting groom is open Saturday from 12pm-4pm.
