Get rich! The Massachusetts Treasury has recently announced a list of South Boston and Dorchester residents with unclaimed property, which includes uncashed checks, contents from checking/savings accounts, stocks, dividends, insurance policy proceeds and contents of safe deposit boxes. Sweet!   Anyone currently owed more than $250 dollars will receive a letter with specific instructions on how to claim it.  If property is not claimed within three years, it is considered abandoned and turned over to the Commonwealth.  To look up your own status, please visit http://www.mass.gov/treasury/unclaimed-prop/ where you can search for unclaimed property.

Reading on wheels!  The ReadBoston’s Storymobile will be in Southie this week! The Storymobile is a visual reminder that learning can happen anywhere, not just in the classroom. The program, which is most appropriate for children ages 3-8, is open to the public with convenient locations all over the city. Come listen to story telling and get a book to take home! No sign-up or registration is necessary.  On Tuesday, July 21st, the Storymobile will be at the Laboure (275 West Broadway) at 10am, Tierney Learning Center (125 Mercer St.) at 11:15am and The Tynan Community Center (650 East Fourth Street) at 1:15pm.

Stretch and tone!  East Side Yoga (584 East Broadway) has a new and affordable class on Wednesdays from 6:00pm to 6:30pm!  Stretch and core will stretch and tone and strengthen your core!   This drop-in class is $5 and is cash only!  Give it try!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!  In celebration of summer in the city and National Ice Cream Month, Friendly’s livens up the lunch hour with a free ice cream pop-up at The Lawn on D. As part of The Lawn on D’s Lunch Break on D series, Friendly’s invites ice cream fans to indulge in an afternoon of free frozen treats, lawn games and live music. Beginning at 12pm on Friday, July 24th, Friendly’s ambassadors will be handing out a variety of Sundae Snack Cups! As visitors to The Lawn on D relax on swings, play a competitive yet friendly game of corn hole and take in the sounds of Berklee College of Music’s 3 Sudacas, they can enjoy a sweet treat for FREE! We can’t think of a better way to spend a summer Friday?!
