Eat, drink and be merry!  Boston Magazine is hosting two great events at Black Falcon Terminal in Southie!  The Cue takes place on Tuesday, August 11, and features ridiculously good BBQ from 17 Boston-area restaurants. Battle of the Burger takes place the following evening on August 12 and includes the city’s 30 best burger champions. Let’s go to the movies!  Enjoy two free movie nights this week.  On Monday, August 10th at 7:45pm at Moakely Park, Mayor Marty Walsh’s movie night will feature “The Box Troll.”  On Friday, August 14th at sundown you can watch the Space Jam at Marine Park as part of the DCR Friday Night Flicks.  Don’t forget your lawn chairs and blankets! 

It’s Olliepalooza!  This fun-filled community event is perfect for all ages and takes place on Wednesday, August 12th from 3pm-7pm at Moakely Park! Featuring family/team games, story circles, face painting & crafts, food & refreshments, music dancing and more!  We also hear the Southie’s own Mary Kate Walsh is back in town to promote her new EP and will be performing at Olliepalooza!  We can’t wait!  

Calling all Southie Seniors!  There are two great events this week that you should know about.  On Tuesday, August 11th at 1pm the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department along with the /west Broadway Task Force are hosting a Senior Identification Program and offering FREE safety ids for seniors over 65.  Bring your emergency contact info, primary care doctor info, and your blood type and allergy info.  This event will take place at 135 Orton Marotta Way.    On Thursday, August 13th from 1pm-2:30pm join the conversation about how to make Boston a more age-friendly.  This session will take place at the Southie Library – 646 East Broadway and is sponsored by the City of Boston, AARP and UMASS Boston.

Listen to the music!  Enjoy a free outdoor concert on Thursday, August 13th from 6pm-to 8:30pm at ICA plaza featuring the Zahili Gonzalez Zamora Project.  This Cuban inspired band  fuses bebop, funk and soul and honors current artists like Michael Petrucciani and Erykah Badu.  For more information visit: www.icaboston.org
