Week of January 6th

Party for Marty! Mayor-Elect Marty Walsh is throwing quite the kick-ass bash for his Inaugural Celebration on Monday, January 6th at 7pm at the Hynes Convention Center.  Not only will there lots of music and dancing, but Walsh is calling upon his supporters to lend a helping hand to those in need in the city of Boston.
The celebration will include performances by: The Boston Pops Swing Orchestra, with conductor Keith Lockhart; Dropkick Murphys; Blue Man Group; Ellis Hall; The Floor Lords; Zumix; Calypso Hurricane; Strictly Sinatra; Mark Morris and the Cat Tunes (an old-school Southie favorite); Steve Sweeney; Lenny Clarke; and DJ Master Millions. Additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks.  Walsh is also asking to donate a canned good and/or make a donation to the ABCD Energy and Fuel Services program.  Tickets are $35.  For more information visit: www.bostoninaugural2014.org.

Take the pledge to be a good neighbor!  Officially, you should have given up your spot savers by now.  If you haven’t moved yours and somebody does move it, be a good neighbor and let it go.  No nasty notes, no flattening of tires, no dog poop under the car door handle (yes, people have done that).  Take the high road and take our good neighbor pledge https://caughtinsouthie.com/feature/good-neighbor-pledge Thank you!

Football, you bet!  An indoor football league for 9-12 years old begins this Wednesday, January 8th.  This weekly league will meet on Wednesdays from 6pm-8pm at the Condon School (200 D Street) and lasts through February 26th.  Registration is on Wednesday, January 8th at 5:45pm at the Condon School gym.  Any questions you can email Bob Ferrara at [email protected].  This league is free!

Try something new!  The Stitch House (846 Dorchester Ave.) is offering a four-week intro to knitting class that will teach you how to knit and pearl a scarf in no time at all.  It’s normally a $75 value but you can purchase it on Living Social for just $35.  Visit: http://tinyurl.com/olgjd4j for details
