O Christmas Tree! Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, it’s time to deck the halls!
Stop by and pick out a beauty at Southie’s newest Christmas tree pop up shop at the corner of L and East First Street (621 East First Street).  Whether you need an 8ft or a 4ft, they’ve got a wide variety.  Need a wreath for your front door?  They’ve got those too. Open daily from 8am-11pm and offering free local delivery.  Perfect for you late-night
tree shoppers.

Shop Local! Get ready to shop local and celebrate the holiday season!  On Thursday, December 5th take part in the South Boston Holiday Shopping Night Out!  This fun-filled event takes place from 4pm to 8pm.  Sip, shop, and dine your way around Southie and take advantage of special discounts and one-night only promotions at local shops and restaurants. The Southie Shuttle will be providing transportation up and down East and West Broadway.

Support Julie’s Family Learning Program.  It’s the annual fundraiser and dinner for an amazing local institution – Julie’s Family Learning Program – on Thursday, December 6th at 7pm at Florian Hall (55 Hallet Street).  Tickets are $40 and help support this community based support and education program helping low-income female headed families break the cycle of poverty. Lace up those sneakers and get ready to run for a great local school – South Boston Catholic Academy.  On Saturday, December 7th at 10am join your friends and neighbors and run a 5K race along the South Boston beaches.  Start and finish is at South Boston Catholic Academy at 866 East Broadway. There is also fun for the kids on deck too with two youth races.  At 9:15 – 100 Meter Dash for kids (9 and under) and at 9:30 a 1/2 mile run (14 and under). If you preregister by December 5th, it’s $20.  Post-registration is $25.  Youth preregistration is is $8 and post-registration is $10. Take a tour! It’s officially the start of the Christmas season this weekend with the annual Laboure House Tour.  One of Southie’s favorite traditions, the Christmas House Tour will feature five homes in the around South Boston from urban lofts to traditional.   Each home will be decorated with a different theme including Classic meets vintage and Viva Las Vegas.
 
A twilight tour will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, and a daylight tour Sunday, Dec. 8, from noon to 4 p.m. Tickets for the twilight tour are $60 and will include a complimentary glass of wine and a cup of chowder at one of five local restaurants. Mix and mingle.  C2 Fitness is getting in the holiday spirit with a special event with a health and wellness twist.  On Saturday, December 7th after the regularly scheduled 10:30 Barre class, enjoy a few hours focusing on ways to counter holiday stress and how to maintain your healthy lifestyle well into 2014.  Featuring Wildly Nourished, Skinny Wraps, Mini-Luxe, Nourish Your Soul, and Nux Clothing, this is guilt-free celebrating!

    Hello!  Just wondering if we have to do anything other than sign up for the 10:30 class at C2 on Friday if we want to take part in the event.  Thank you!
