Burn some calories.  On Thanksgiving morning, C2 Barre Room (844 Summer Street) is hosting two calorie burning workouts that will take the some of the guilt out of Thanksgiving overindulging. 8am take the Core workout – a high-energy, boot-camp style class infuses moves like squats, mountain climbers with balance and stretching all with a medicine ball adding in for good measure. 9am plie and releve for an hour while you stretch and tone your entire body.  For more information visit: http://www.c2pilates.com/

Thanksgiving and football go together like turkey and stuffing.  Gather up a team of four and play in the Curley Recreation Center (the L) Turkey Bowl – Flag Football Tourney.  This fun-filled event takes place on M Street Beach on Wednesday, November 27th from 12:30pm-4pm.  Four player teams, $20 per team with divisions including Boys 8 and Under, Boys and Girls 9-12, Boys Under 16. This event is brought to you by the Curley Youth & Teen Center and each player will receive membership to the new center opening the first week of December with an after school program including homework help, a computer lab, arts and crafts, games and a big screen TV. Kick it old school Southie at Seapoint (367 East Eighth Street).  Revisit the good old days and enjoy Southie DJ legend Dru Erico as he spins the tunes at Seapoint on Thanksgiving Eve – Wednesday beginning at 8pm.   Plan on dancing the night away to such local favorites like Happy Radio and Young Hearts Run Free .  No cover charge.  

Help our neighbors have a great Thanksgiving.  Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful for what you have and the perfect time to help those who are less fortunate.  The long standing South Boston tradition of the Thanksgiving Dinner at St. Monica’s church is being served from 11:30-1:30.  If you would like to come for a delicious dinner at St. Monica’s Hall (at the corner of Prebble and Old Colony Ave) just bring your appetite.  If you can’t leave your home and would like a meal delivered, give St. Monica’s a call at 617-268-1230 or 617-590-9922.  The Southie Shuttle (617-268-4110) is providing free rides to and from dinner.  Want to volunteer to help cook turkeys, make pick ups, deliveries, serve meals, set-up and clean-up – call 617-268-1230 or 617-590-9922. This neighborhood event is hosted by The South Boston Catholic Parishes and our Southie elected officials. ?

Need a drink?  After a day with the family, one might need to escape for a much deserved cocktail. Lincoln (425 West Broadway) will open up on Thanksgiving night at 6pm.  Full bar and limited food menu – i.e. pizza and wings.

Mix and mingle and help support South Boston Youth Hockey.  South Boston Youth Hockey is celebrating the season with a special South Boston reunion and fundraiser on Saturday, November  30th at The Teacher’s Union Hall at 7pm.  There will be live music featuring Southie’s favorite band, Thomas Park, a tribute to Teddy Cunniff, raffles and a cash bar. Clean out your closets and donate your unwanted coats to a special Coat Drive in Southie for Family Aid Boston.  Stop by the South Boston Library on Saturday, November 30th from 11am to 1pm and drop off a coat, be it parka, topcoat, peacoat, puffer, or jacket.  Boston Family Aid works to prevent and end homelessness in Boston.  This is the season of giving – so do something nice – it’s good karma.
