New location

About a month ago, word on the street was Murphy’s Jewelry would be closing shop after nearly 50 years in business.  Nikki Konchak – daughter of Billy Cosetta who owns Murphy’s  – took to social media to let South Boston know.  Costetta found out that his landlord would be raising his rent to a price he couldn’t afford.  Murphy’s would need a new home.

Well, we are happy to report that Murphy’s has found a new home in South Boston at 403 West First Street.  “Preparing for this move has been tough. My dad has been at 619 East Broadway for 47 years and the store itself has been there even longer. Believe me, there is LOTS to move. Things I wouldn’t think would be a big deal are very a very big deal and very expensive. We have had to find and custom order new grates, a new jewelry safe, alarm system, lighting, flooring…you name it, we did it.”  Murphy’s hopes to be open within the month of March.  They will be neighbors to Lindsay Tia – a new handbag and accessories boutique that opened recently at 407 West First Street in a soon to be a vibrant part of South Boston.

Nikki has set up a go fund me page to help raise funds for her father’s business to help with relocating, a new alarms system and new steel grates.  It has raised over 15,000.   If you would like to donate kindly visit:
