Eat:
It’s not like you need an excuse to eat some meatballs but Friday, March 9th is National Meatball Day!  Head to Capo and order up their legendary delicious meatballs for an appetizer or maybe in panini form for brunch!  Sit by the fire, get cozy with someone special, drink some wine – sounds like heaven to us!

Drink:
Up Ireland!  Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, Roza Lyons has got Nitro Irish Stout on draft!  Stop by this weekend and order up a pint and get in the spirit!

Shop:
Wearing o’ the green!  St. Patrick’s Day is quickly approaching! Head to Southie’s Own on West Broadway!  They have everything from Southie sweatshirts, to scally caps, t-shirts and more!

See:
Jab, hook, uppercut!  It’s the Annual St. Patrick’s Day Kids Boxing Show.  More than 20 bouts will be featured at Peter Welch’s Gym.  The event takes place on Saturday, March 10th at 6pm.  Who knows? We may discover the next Marvin Hagler.

Do:
Plant and grow! Wouldn’t it be nice to have your own little plot of land to plant your tomatoes or grow some herbs?  Well,  the Fort Point Neighborhood Association is hosting a lottery on Sunday, March 11th at 10am for 5 open garden plots available this spring for 3 year terms. If you can’t make it, you can send a proxy.  No emailed requests.   The lottery will be held in the garden in State Street Park along A Street (where the dog park is).  In the event of rain we will meet in the safe confines of the Midway gallery at 15 Channel Center Street.

Play:
Just when you thought Southie had it all, there’s this news! The Seaport District has Glowing Musical Seesaws! Yes, seesaws (or you may know them as teeter-totters)! The playground apparatus of our childhood will be souped up to glow with white lights and create musical notes. The faster you go, the faster the lights and music goes! The glowing musical seesaws traveling exhibit called Impulse. Seaport x Impulse will be opening to the public on the Seaport Common from February 16 to April 8.

Dance:
Kick it old school Southie-style at Seapoint.  Revisit the good old days and enjoy Southie DJ legend Dru Errico as he spins the tunes at Seapoint  Saturday night beginning at 8pm.   Plan on dancing the night away to such local favorites like Happy Radio and Young Hearts Run Free!No cover charge.  Plenty of parking!

Skate:
How’s your triple Salchow these days? The Miss Ice O’Rama competition takes place on Sunday, March 11th as part of the South Boston Citizen’s Ice-O-Rama Day. Also included in this fun filled event of old fashioned ice competition are a puck shooting, speed skating, and of course the legendary Miss Ice O’Rama competition. Competition is for 14 and under. Fun starts at 10:00am.

Unwind:
Breathe and relax!  How does an afternoon of relaxation sound?  Radiant Yoga is hosting a a special Restorative Yoga and Reiki workshop on Sunday, March 11th from 2pm-4pm.  Radiant’s owner Chanel Luck teams up with Stephanie Lucero and Allison Jones for a blissed out workshop. These three ladies bring over 40 years experience between them to this highly specialized workshop. Puppy love!  Celebrate St. Paddy’s for Paws at The Modern Dog in Dorchester.  On Sunday, March 11th from 12pm-4pm help support Survivor Tails Animal Rescue.  A few adoptable dogs will be there along with Wag Dog Design Co.  There will be food and beverages, music and lots of fun! There will also be Sun Dog Treats for you doggies to enjoy! This event is adult, kids and dog friendly (just make sure they’re on a leash – the dogs not the kids.) A percentage of the days sales will go to Survivor Tails Animal Rescue.  Stop by!

Balance:

      We did last week! I can’t highlight fish every week. Not everyone is Catholic and not everyone participated in meatless Fridays. Besides, National Meatball Day is always March 9th which happens to fall on a Friday this year. Happy St. Patrick’s Day !
