Eat:
Saturday, October 1st, Boston Local Food Festival takes place from 11am to 5pm.  Enjoy Healthy Local Foods from local farmers, and fishermen.  There will be live music, chef throwdowns, activities for kids, and food inspired arts and crafts,  This amazing event is presented by the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Boston – so it’s green too!  How ’bout that? This event takes place on the South Boston Waterfront at Fort Point Channel. 

Drink:
Roll out the barrel!  It’s Octoberfest at Harpoon Brewery (306 Northern Ave).  Come celebrate the fall season Harpoon-style with Harpoon and UFO beers an traditional German food.  Admission is $20 and includes one drink ticket and souvenir cup.  Must be 21 plus.  We hear there is a real “oom pa pa” band too.  Friday, September 30th, 5:30-11pm and Saturday, October 1, 2pm-9pm. ?

Participate:
Help Tim strike out Leukemia! On Friday, September 30th at the IBEW (256 Freeport Street) a fundraiser will take place to help Local Little Leaguer and South Bostonian Tim Burke. An amazing evening of food, fun, comedy, and of course BASEBALL, all in support of  Tim Burke as he fights his battle with Leukemia!??First Pitch: 7:00 pm – Game End: 11:00 pm?Lineup: DJ, Comedian, Ballpark food, Pictures with Wally, Raffles, Auction, and Cash bar.

Shop:
While the weather is still nice, head outside to SoWa Sundays on Harrison Ave.  Shop the local farmers market, browse the rows of artists, merchants featuring clothing, housewares, jewelry, and more.  Make sure to check out the Vintage and Antique Market too!  Stop by Market and say hello to Jen Allen – she sells amazing vintage and modern furniture and accessories for your home!  Tell her Caught in Southie sent you!

Play:

Fall Forest Festival at the Franklin Park Forest

 Enjoy FREE outdoor activities for all ages. Join a family hike in the woods, Climb a tree with recreational climbing gear or forage for wild edible plants.   

– Saturday,  October 1st 1:00-5:30pm. 

 

Schedule of Activities:

– 1:30 & 3:00pm: Family nature hikes & activities with Boston Nature Center educator
– 4:00-5:30pm: Fall foraging edible plant walk with local naturalist, PamKristan
– 1:00-4:00pm: Tree Climbing with Boston Area Recreational Climbers
