A preliminary election will take place for Boston City Council District 2.  There are three people running for this seat: Bob Ferrara, Suzanne Lee and Bill Linehan.  We thought we’d give you the lowdown on the candidates.  Hopefully, you will have enough information to help with your election decision.  The most important thing is that you get out there and vote. Hey Kids!  Celebrate autumn!  The South Boston Public Library (646 East Broadway) is offering a fall craft program on Wednesday, September 28th at 10:30am.  Children can enjoy a story and craft project celebrating autumn.  Materials will be provided.  For more information, call 617-268-0180. 

Moving Forward.  The Distillery Gallery (516 East Second Street) will present a new exhibition “Moving Forward” from September 29th to November 1st.  This exhibition will feature new work by local artist Vanessa Irzyk.  An opening reception will be held on Thursday, September 29th from 7pm-9pm.  For more information go to www.gallery.distilleryboston.com

Help Tim strike out Leukemia! On Friday, September 30th at the IBEW (256 Freeport Street) a fundraiser will take place to help Local Little Leaguer and South Bostonian Tim Burke. An amazing evening of food, fun, comedy, and of course BASEBALL, all in support of  Tim Burke as he fights his battle with Leukemia!

First Pitch: 7:00 pm – Game End: 11:00 pm
Lineup: DJ, Comedian, Ballpark food, Pictures with Wally, Raffles, Auction, and Cash bar. 

Roll out the barrel!  It’s Octoberfest at Harpoon Brewery (306 Northern Ave).  Come celebrate the fall season Harpoon-style with Harpoon and UFO beers an traditional German food.  Admission is $20 and includes one drink ticket and souvenir cup.  Must be 21 plus.  We hear there is a real “oom pa pa” band too.  Friday, September 30th, 5:30-11pm and Saturday, October 1, 2pm-9pm.
