Here’s how.

The best part about summer? Knowing a half-day is waiting at the end of every workweek. (If you’re lucky enough, that is). Haven’t fully taken advantage of this fleeting summer work perk? With Labor Day (A.K.A. the end of Summer Fridays) staring us smack dab in the face, it’s time to remedy that. How you ask? Instead of going straight home from the office, take advantage of all the fun (and often free) Friday things this city has to offer. Take a peek:

Summer Fridays at the ICA
Unlike you, art goes overtime every Friday at the Institute of Contemporary Art. On August 18th, the museum will open its doors at no cost to visitors all day long (10AM-9PM). Even better? Every Friday through August 25th, the museum will host pop-up DJ nights at their waterfront location. For the full list of upcoming DJs, visit here!

Friday Flicks at the Hatch Shell Boston
Enjoy feature-length films under the stars for free at the DCR’s Hatch Shell. Offered on Friday nights all summer long, movies start at sundown, but for the best seats (it’s a first-come, first-serve kind of deal), we recommend packing a picnic and heading over right after work. For a full list of upcoming movies, visit here!

Courtyard Concerts at the BPL
Every Friday, at 12:30 in the afternoon, the Boston Public Library will host free hour-long concerts (performances vary from classical to jazz to world) in their open-air courtyard. Don’t get out that early? Catch a Wednesday evening performance, instead. For a full list of performances visit here!
