Bring your thoughts and ideas to a special planning workshop with the BPDA

The Boston Planning & Development Agency will be holding public workshops the evening of February 8th and the morning of February 11th as part of a planning initiative for the Edison Power Plant site in South Boston. Both workshops will consist of the same material and program. The workshops are intended to engage the community and determine their interests and aspirations related to housing, transportation, public realm improvements, cultural facilities and placemaking at the Edison Power Plant site.

The process will inform the development plan for the property and future zoning.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday February 8th from 6pm-8pm at the Tynan School – 650 East Fourth Street.

I urge folks to be present at this meeting namely for the significant transportation impact in Southie. This site is over 18 acres with height restrictions from the airport, and while we don’t know the full plans the developers could build a large number of units and retail spread along a big area. While I am happy this plant will be developed, we must remind the city of our on going capacity issues with our bus system. Any meaningful plan must prioritize transportation. Thanks for sharing this Maureen!
