So the rumors are true – Franklin Southie will be closing its doors soon.  But Southie food lovers should not shed a tear, the local spot will be replaced by Moonshine Kitchen 152, owned by local chef and Southie resident Asia Mei.  Mei’s resume boasts such work experience as Sam’s at Louis (on Southie’s Waterfront), Hamersley’s in the South End and she was the original chef that began at Franklin Southie when it first opened.  So it has come full circle.

According to the Boston.com,  Franklin Southie owner Dave Dubuois gushed about Mei’s culinary skills“”She was one of the best cooks we ever had at Franklin Southie,” says Dubois. “She came to us and basically offered to buy it. She wanted her own restaurant. And it was the right fit: I’m a big believer in neighborhood restaurants and chef-owners, and the neighborhood already loves her.”

So as sad as it is that Franklin Southie is closing, the happy news is Moonshine Kitchen 152 will be replacing it in early 2015.  Franklin plans on staying open through the end of the year to help with the transistion.
