Calling all mixologists—whether you like your cocktails shaken or stirred, we have the perfect new spirit to add to your liquor cabinet! Southie’s own Grand Ten Distilling has added a new rum to its arsenal of craft spirits. If you haven’t checked out Grand Ten Distilling yet, or any of their products, let us just fill you in a bit. The distillery was founded with the mission to create a unique, high quality product that would satisfy the growing number of craft-cocktail aficionados out there. Known for its hands-on approach to distilling, all of Grand Ten’s copper-distilled spirits are made in very small batches, with everything from choosing ingredients to labelling the bottles done by hand.

Meet Grand Bird Rum! We don’t know about you, but there’s nothing better than coming home from work or relaxing on the weekends with a delectable tropical concoction in hand, and now that Grand Bird has officially hit shelves, we can’t wait to stir up something special. Grand Bird is a white rum that is light in nature with subtle hints of banana that make it perfect for your end-of-summer tikki cocktails. A unique addition to the Grand Ten lineup, Grand Bird is a nice complement to the distillery’s dark variety, Medford Rum, and remains true to the craft standards upheld at Grand Ten. Including rich undertones of caramel and vanilla, this over-proofed rum is perfect for putting your inner mixologist to work! As you may or may not know, over-proofed liquors mean you can pack the same punch with smaller amounts of alcohol while creating more room for other ingredients. Sounds like a deal to us! We don’t know about you, but we’ll be stopping by Social Wines in Southie this weekend to pick up a bottle of Grand Bird Rum. Take a page out of Grand Ten’s recipe book and create your own signature summer cocktail by combining Grand Bird Rum with your choice of seasonal fruit. We also like the idea of a classic Mai Tai—crisp, refreshing, and perfect for a warm afternoon spent soaking up the sun.
