Raise the roof

Bright lights.  Big city.

Take advantage of gorgeous views of the water and the city and bring the party outside.  Just because you are entertaining on your roof deck doesn't mean you have to rough it.  Use table linens in bright summery colors and patterns to create a fresh and fun feeling.  String up some party lights and light some candles to add a little atmosphere.

Here's a tip from the decorating professionals at Twelve Chairs (319 A Street) in the Fort Point neighborhood of Southie:

For roof decks and back yards we love the versatility of garden stools. They can be used as a side table, a foot rest or an extra seat. While vintage ceramic ones are our favorite, West Elm's Martini Side Table is a great colorful option. An extra perk is that once the cold weather returns to Boston, you can use your garden stool indoors.
