The Joe Moakley Scholarship is awarded to a ‘Southie Kid’ who has a history of volunteering in South Boston.

What do you do for work in Nashville? I work at the Tennessee Department of Education

What do you miss the most about South Boston? Definitely family and the people. It's pretty amazing that I can come home to the same street that my grandmother, Mary Fumarola, grew up on and feel that I'm part of something bigger. I miss the people and WALKING everywhere. I miss that a lot! Unfortunately, Sully’s was closed on my trip home this time.

Besides saying hello to my family, the first thing I did was go for a run around the Island! There is no place in the world like Castle Island! The second thing I did was beat my brother, Liam at pool at the Seapoint.  I love that I can go anywhere in the country and tell people I'm from Southie.  I've had some great opportunities but I'll never forget where I come from.
