Boston police are investigating a double shooting Monday night in Southie.  BPD responded to a call about 11:20pm near the corner of O’Callahan Way and Logan Way in the Old Harbor Housing Development.  Two teenage males (ages 15 and 16) were found shot.  Both victims were taken to local hospitals where later one died.

No arrests have been made.  According to Channel 7, BPD Commissioner Bill Evans is asking for the public’s help.  “We’re doing a canvas search right now, going door to door and doing a line search looking for information, were looking at cameras. But we need the public’s help on this. Obviously a cold night out here, I don’t think there were many people out. We have one or two witnesses that were taken to homicide but as always we need the public’s help,” Evans said.

See BPD Statement below:

At about 11:19 PM on Monday, November 27, 2017, officers from District C-6 (South Boston) responded to a call for a person shot in the area of 264 O’Callaghan Way. The second victim, a 16-year-old male, was transported to Boston Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

We need the city to Bid out this public housing complex, as well as the West Broadway complex, and have them do exactly what they’re doing to the Mcormack Complex. Get all of these people out of here, redevelop it, and hope they’re too lazy to move back from their temporary home.

I believe this was, in fact, in the McCormack complex, not Old Colony. Both have plans for redevelopment. Hopefully safety is improved as both are developed for all communities who live there.

Where does it say anywhere Old Colony? Old Harbor is the McCormack complex

Ughhh….the dumps of Southie. When will they get rid of these eye sores?

That is good space that needs to be used for hardworking, contributing members of Southie.

If you happen to live there and take offense to this, you are either:

    A) disabled and in need of assistance. I get this, it sucks. But you are trying to live in one of the most expensive parts of the country.

    B) you are on immense amounts of welfare and assistance, do not work, and do lots of drugs.

    Sorry not sorry

There’s actually a lot of hard working people that live there as well who can’t afford anywhere else. Are you actually from Southie originally? If you were you wouldn’t be so quick with the stereotyping. Maybe you should think before you speak. And btw, I AM originally from Southie

I think very hard before I speak, Anthony. Always. Especially on sensitive topics where I know I will get heated.

Can’t afford anywhere else? Boston is nearing the top of most expensive places to live.

Time to pay the piper folks. Free ride is over.

I agree with RG. I live near there and walk around Andrew a lot because I need to walk my dog. And I do see a lot of people that could very well be hardworking. But I also see so many more that are just obvious addicts/drunkards and/or living on welfare. Sorry, that’s the truth.

It might’ve been a different story when you were growing up, Anthony, but that’s how it is now…

I paid shitload of money to buy a condo near Andrew and I can’t always fear about the possibility of getting attacked by these addicts. And the innocent low-income families aren’t the issue. It’s the addicts and people living on welfare that are the issue.

And as RG said, free ride is over. Why does one get to stay in one of the most expensive neighborhoods without contributing to the society when people that actually contribute can’t because it’s too expensive? I can’t wait until the redevelop it so the lazy ones don’t come back.

Can someone enlighten me on this apparent “day care” scam these people seem to run? At all these complexes I see some shoddy day care sign with some mistreated childrens toys outside but never ever any children. Is there some loose state definition of a “day care” that allows these people to circumvent the tax code?

Most of the addicts you see hanging at Andrew Square don’t live in our community. ( some do) they are clients at one of the two methadone clinics heading towards Mass Ave
And by the way Roger, be careful what you say. Very good chance that someone you know or love will be affected with this curse. no family is immune from this .
