If you get banned from the South Boston Community Bulletin Board, maybe consider it a message from the Universe.  There are much better things you can do with your time.  Go for a walk, read a book, decorate your Christmas tree.

So when someone shared with us the fact that one person on Facebook wants to get back on the Community Bulletin Board so much – they actually started a Change.org  petition in the hopes to get the Facebook page administrator to let him back in the group, we scratched our heads and wondered why.  But David Linnehan believes it’s his right to receive news and info about his community (umhhh…hello – Caught in Southie has news and information.) Here is his plea:

I have lived in Southie my entire life. A few months ago I was frustrated that Phyllis Allison removed my post about a lost item. Regrettably, I pointed out the fact that she is not OFS and she subsequently blocked me from the group. As a life long southie resident I think it my right to receive news and information about my community. Please sign this position to allow me (David Linnehan) back into the group.

According to David, calling out Phyllis for being a carpetbagger is enough to get you bounced from the board but we have a feeling there may be a little more to this story.

We’ve heard that Phyllis rules the board with an iron fist and she does not put up with any shenanigans.  She clearly outlines her rules:

The Southie Community Bulletin Board is a group for people interested in the community of South Boston, Massachusetts. Postings about events, recommendations and general questions are welcome. RULES: 1 No political discussions. 2. No general dog issue posts (except lost/found). 3. No use of the words ‘yuppie’ or ‘junkie’–both needlessly divisive. 4. No personal attacks or obscenities. Thank you!

If you would like help out David – you can find his petition here.  Although we’re not sure what good will come of it.

Good lord. Get a life. I love the whining that Phyllis treats that page like she’s the law. ITS HER PAGE! don’t like, start you own. Losers with nothing better to do than complain about yuppies, condos, new restaurants and increasing property values.

These people need to live their life out and stop trying to hold back the community that they will no longer be a part of in the near future. They show up to abutters meetings when they live half way across town.

I’m willing to donate all they yarn they need to keep them in their rockers.

    This is remarkable:

“As a life long southie resident I think it my right to receive news and information about my community.”

Those OFS incorrectly say newcomers feel entitled. Well here is a OFS guy saying it is his RIGHT to belong to belong to a private online group on a privately owned website. That’s not how it works.

So true. Unfortunately, if you can’t prove you were born in parochial Southie, you are automatically a second class citizen in the neighborhood and not exactly welcomed. Doesn’t matter if you’ve lived in the neighborhood longer than some OFS have been alive. Sadly, the administrator of that site tries to run a clean ship and provide a service to the community, but she get absolutely roasted. I would have shut the thing down long ago. And moved.

      Yeah me too Ed.
Being OFS I believe any non OFSers must learn how to play halfball and be proficient at pitching said game.,
Must understand what a pimple ball is, and how to cut one in half.
Also, must be knowable of the required beer consumption prior to the start of an actual game, generally one GIQ (each player) to get things rolling.
Must know that a thin broomstick is best, not a shovel handle .
Must understand that there is NO base running involved in a game,.., singles, doubles, trips, and home runs are tallied in your head., and Spoken out loud as the game is playing..along with fouls.
Outfielders fetch stray balls always and, ,..upon a window being broken all players must act in a way that seems to suggest that came from some other neighborhood…the wearing of desert boots for a game is frowned upon. Chuck Taylors are suggested.
Non OFSers must get a Southie dot within one year (NO exceptions)
Also must be willing and able to drag a bus down or up Broadway in a snowstorm !
That’s it , that’s how Southie became such an awesome town !
      Nooo..halfball isn’t played in a snowstorm , it’s a summer thing !
