Boston Fire Department officials announced on Wednesday night, Sean Malone, 54 – a Southie resident and local actor who was rescued from Boston Harbor last week has died.

Malone has appeared in movies such as “Gone Baby Gone” and “The Fighter.”  He was most recognized for his appearance in the  The Hopper (Dish Kangaroo) commercials.   Malone was also the brother of Scott Malone – Deputy Fire Chief of the Boston Fire Department.  

On July 20th, Malone was pulled from the waters near the Curley Recreation Center after an off-duty firefighter Chris Flaherty and three teenagers from Milton spotted him.  Flaherty and another off-duty firefighter Ryan Long performed CPR on Malone.  He was rushed to Boston Medical Center where he succumbed to injuries nine days later.
