Southie Shout-out!

And the winner is….

A Southie resident has come forward to collect his $2 million winnings from Saturday’s Powerball drawing.  According to The Boston Globe, Edward Prakapas from East Sixth Street has been recognized as the winner at the lottery’s Braintree office.

Prakapas will be splitting the winnings with Daniel McCarty – also of South Boston.  They both picked 3 numbers each and agreed to split the money if they won.  After taxes, the total payout is 1.4 million.   The owner of Jimmy’s Korner Store that sold the pair the ticket will receive a $20,0000 commission for the sale.

Not a bad way to end 2013, right?

Congrats to all!
