On Monday, KO Pies posted on Twitter that beginning April 25th – they will be taking an “extended break” and moving their Southie employees to their East Boston location where they will be “focusing all of their energies.”

Oh no!

Although, KO did not officially announce they are closing, they did reveal that they’ve put their building on the market so we can only assume it’s goodbye to this Australian eatery! We will miss their meat pies, chicken schnitty’ and potato wedges!

Back in 2015, owner of KO Pies, Sam Jackson publicly voiced his opposition to the proposal of the development at 45 West Third Street – a development now known at PORT45 which is now completed with units on the market.

Hmmm. They have a store that sells pies. People eat pies. People are moving in so…they want out? Let’s hope that there’s a good business school over there in “Eastie”. And BTW what’s with that nickname? Where’s the originality? What if everybody did that? If you want good Italian food, you have to go to “Northie”. Randy Newman sang it best: “South America stole our name so let’s drop the big one”. Thank God the South End deferred on adopting a nickname or the perennial question to the title of this web site would be: “which one.”?
