Many years, spent on this sight. with a melting pot of talented employees. I tossed my boots into the trash bucket in 2000…….Job title, Watch Engineer. I think back, remembering all the people who worked there……an interesting lot indeed. The view from the stacks was incredible, the smell of Venezuelan crude undeniable, the roar of natural gas through 16 inch gas lines deafening. The potential for disaster constant. We where your neighbor and your land mark. We spewed soot on your cloths line, woke you at night, and blocked your million dollar view. We were steel, steam, and fire. At half load we drank 275 gallons of crude every minute, we lit your way. We fought more than you know, to keep your lights on. We went from 0 to 100 in a second, from a synchronous hum to hundreds of flashing lights alarms, and the roar of, what the hell was that. We responded, with speed, and talent, grappling the beast into submission while you slept. We were 18 acres of raw power. Every employee from the Watch Engineer to the cleaners played an important roll in the safe and efficient operation of that plant. Operators, Steam lab, Water lab, MSD, Maintenance, Electric Lab, Watch electricians, Outage crew, Cleaners, Waste treatment, and the Front office…………some very ball-zee and talented individuals for sure. Our safety record was incredible……..bitter sweet………its time for a fresh face…….. Mrs. H from behind home plate at M street park should get her pick of the new condos…….she deserves it……. We are sorry we woke you so many times mam

Imagine the size of the youth center they could put there? Roxbury just got a multi million dollar “Croc Center” indoor water park, basketball everything etc! Partnership with the salvation army … With everything surrounding south Boston and the hope that the youth will be able to pave a path of success in their own home town, Once by far the greatest neighborhood in america hands down!! Wouldn’t it be amazing it the became a youth center? Just my thoughts, High hopes enen maybe. ✌ #Southie
