Two firearms found in South Boston. 

From the Boston Police Blog:

At about 1:15 AM on Monday, May 25, 2015, officers from District C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of 28 Gavin Way in South Boston.

Upon arrival, officers spoke to several witnesses who reported two males began shooting firearms outside of the above address. One suspect was described as wearing all black, the second a gray hooded sweatshirt. Officers canvassed the area and found several pieces of ballistic evidence, as well as two firearms and a gray hooded sweatshirt inside a trash can outside of 3 Sterling Square. Officers recovered and processed a brown and black Smith and Wesson 38 SPL revolver with spent shell casings and a silver and black Bersa 380 ACP firearm and magazine. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

Members of the Boston Police Department are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is strongly urged to contact Boston Police District C-6 Detectives at (617) 343-4742.

Other crime related incidents/activity in Southie reported to or observed by CIS over the weekend :

  • On Sunday morning at approximately 7am – A suspect breaking into cars in the area of M Street and Columbia Road.  An off duty police officer who lives in the area witnessed the crime and chased the suspect before apprehending him on M Street between Seventh and Eighth
  • Later on Sunday afternoon a swarm of police cars surrounded the area of Stop and Shop on East Broadway to apprehend a car theft suspect.
  • On Monday, witnesses report that a man was taken into custody from Boston Harbor at Carson Beach at approximately 4pm – literally taken from the ocean.  No word on why that man was arrested yet.
  • South Boston Little Leaguers and their family were treated to a scene right out of The Wire with numerous BPD cars surrounding the court yard of the Old Harbor Housing Development on Old Colony Ave at approximately 6:30pm. Police presence on the roof looking for a suspect.   The male suspect was spotted running across the courtyard, then promptly arrested and taken into custody.

    You'd better be careful about the crime you're reporting. Personally, I think its great that you're letting us know what's going on, but the real estate High Cabal and its legion of lobbyists aka our elected officials, might put you on double secret probation for such subversive activities. Its all about keeping the cost of residence in Southie above the 1/2 million dollar mark. Anyone who tampers with that might be branded and run out of town(after they take your money, of course). Keepup the good work.
