What the heck is going on in the neighborhood?

Last night according to Stacos on twitter, a takeout delivery guys was robbed at gunpoint around 10pm at Kemble Place near the corner of P and 2nd.

This past week, there was not one but two liquor store hold ups.  According to Universal Hub The Liquor and Wine Emporium at 336 K St., was held up at gunpoint around 10 p.m.  The description of the suspect is a white male, about 6′ medium build, in a black ski mask and all black clothes.

According to Southie Scanner, that description matches a suspect in another liquor store hold up on Christmas morning (honestly) at Jimmy’s Korner at P&6th.

Is the guy who held up the takeout delivery guy the same person?  We have a hunch it could be.  We would have to guess this is a drug related crime.  More to follow.

Damn yuppies who aren’t “from here “. Clearly another example of them ruining the damn neighbor by having to rob people to pay for their “million dollar condos”.

Agreed. Only yuppies would rob people in southie. This is not the southie I remember #sad

Maureen- your bio is in pretty obvious poor taste since you clearly need to take steps to not be mistaken for a “yuppie” (why would that be bad enough to call out?), yet at the same time expect those same yuppies to still read your content and give you page clicks and advertiser page views on this site. Hypocrite much? Southie project natives most likely are the culprit here too- and represent “your people” real well. You should be proud ! The old days aren’t coming back – deal with it.

If you’re going to call me out by name, have the balls to back it with your real name and not a fake email address. Who says I take steps “to not be mistaken for a yuppie.” Seems like you’re reading into my bio a little too much. I’m a lover of both old and new Southie and I think it’s reflected in the voice of this publication. If you don’t like it and/or me, don’t read it. Thanks for you mean and anonymous comment. Nothing motivates me more!

Good for you Maureen! This buffoon is another “ I know Southie because I’ve lived there for 6 months “. This is the type that gives older residents reasons to dislike newer arrivals. Let this dope deal with that.

Asshole, Southie may not be coming back but you jerkoffs will NEVER have what we original Southie people had.
We knew our neighbors and we helped each other out if it was needed. The worst thing that happened to Southie was the tall ships. When you yuppies come in to see them and seen what we had in Southie, you pulled out your trust fund check books and mommie and daddy’s credit cards and bought your way in. You all suck, you don’t even know how to pronounce Southie correctly . You ruined Southie with your liberal views and ways. Way to go Maureen for calling this yuppie douchebag out. Keep up the good work, love your site. I could say a lot more about you yuppie c u next Tuesday but I can’t use the language I want to. !!!!!!

Well, the point is these “jerkoffs” DO have what you original Southie people had…they have your houses. Maybe all those close-knit neighbors you fondly remember shouldn’t have sold out.

        • Yuppie hater December 31, 2017 at 5:55 pm - Reply

You jerkoffs may have our houses but you will Never have the friendships, closeness, and caring neighbors that made us a neighborhood. All you yuppies basically do is sleep here because it’s easier to get to your jobs in the financial district and you like the idea of being able to say you live in Southie . Then you all go back to your mother and fathers homes in the Berkshires and wherever else you douchebags come from. And again, you may have our houses but we took you to the cleaners on the price you paid for them you suckers. You people will never be Southie people no matter how hard you try. As I said before, you can’t even pronounce the name right. And you’re lucky because if this was the old days , we’d kick your asses just for coming into Southie. You may live in Southie but you’ll never be Southie.!!!!!!

I’m not from Southie but I can’t agree more in regards to some of these yuppies. You walk around as if you are royalty, your ignorance and all about me attitude is disgusting. I work in Southie regularly and am amazed at the self importance and just plain shitty people some of you are. Where has the respect for your elders and being a good human being gone?

It’s a little hard to respect any elder who calls people ignorant, self important and shitty. Just sayin….

I’ve lived on SOUTHIE all my life. We made this place ..For MANY YEARS we HAD this place to ourselves..the beaches, proximity to downtown, FAMILY AND FRIENDS, schools, and churches..Granted we had our share of problems (BUSSING, developers encroaching on us)..these phony,SELFISH yuppies are the worst people I’ve ever ran into in my life..GO BACK TO YOUR LILLY WHITE SURBURBS..you bunch of SELFISH phonies!!

@ Old time Southie, You nailed it . I couldn’t agree with you more.

Happy New Year to all the good old time Southie people, not the phony self righteous yuppie ones.
They couldn’t come up to our ankles.

You, J, and Yuppie Hater should share a beer you can all cry in. BTW, the guy running around Southie with the gun holding up liquor stores sounds more Townie than Yuppie.

      • Yuppie hater January 1, 2018 at 8:31 pm - Reply

And share a beer we would. You yuppies are so cheap you wouldn’t give anyone a drink of water if they were dying of thirst. And I’d love you to tell a real Townie that to his or her face. You wouldn’t have the balls. When are you going to get it ? You’re not wanted or welcome here and never will be, so take your trust funds and go to Brookline, Newton or Wellesley where you will be welcomed with open arms. Here you’re just a bunch of rich douchebags trying to turn Southie into something it was never meant to be.

  6. Old time SOUTHIE January 1, 2018 at 11:45 am - Reply

The guy robbing the stores probably is neither a YUPPIE or from southie rather a low life junkie..that being said, if I see ANOTHER SELFISH YUPPIE WITH THEIR “DOG” AND THEIR “COFFEE ” walking out into the street WITHOUT LOOKING, stuffing the faces at local bars ( with greasy food on the weekend AM, A.K.A. ” brunch”)and pulling up at “M” STREET beach in ubers I’m gonna throw up..

    • Home Is Where The Heart Is January 1, 2018 at 12:22 pm - Reply

So…old timers didn’t own dogs, drink coffee or eat locally. OK. I can see where you must think this place is going to Hell in a hand-basket.

  7. Old time SOUTHIE January 1, 2018 at 4:19 pm - Reply

No I NEVER walked down the street DRINKING COFFEE.(so foolish) yeah I ate breakfast locally..and I walked to the BEACH Not a uber….guess you just don’t get it..and my dog was a mongrel..named IRISH…your generally a bunch of people just PASSING THROUGH..don’t let the door hit you in your SELFISH ass when going back to your LILLY WHITE SUBURBS..we’ll still be here..

Wow, I can’t believe I missed out on this gold. Comical. Every single day, the average age in Southie is getting younger, whether you like it or not. Embrace it or complain about it, it’s happening.

    • Home Is Where The Heart Is January 4, 2018 at 8:05 am - Reply

What these old-timers don’t get is that the average age of the entire world is getting younger. We used to “cherish our children’s futures” (JFK) but now a few disgruntled Boomers and X-ers are refusing to step aside, relinquish power and play the role nature intended as councilers and guides. They would rather eat their young. Sad. Let them shake their fists, therefore, at the great tsunami of demographics. It always wins in the end.

Now if you will excuse me I have to take my Chow Chow for a walk to Starbucks.

Why all the hatered towards people who choose to move to the neighborhood you were raised in ? Seems like a massive compliment and agreement that South Boston is a great place to live. I’ve never lived outside of the city other than college and I’ve lived in many different Boston neighborhoods. Sure, the proximity to the beaches and downtown is great. The draw for me is the neighborhood atmosphere. The sense of community is wonderful. I live on a block I hope to live on the rest of my life. I’ve been in this part of Boston for six years. I’m a good neighbor and jump at any opportunity to join a good neighborhood cause when I read or hear about one. Here’s to hoping all the anger stays hidden behind a keyboard and out of the neighborhood !
