Gallery Crawl for Saturday, January 12th!
Two galleries with in walking distance are having receptions for their two new group shows!
Proof Gallery is having its opening for its eagerly awaited annual: Boston Does Boston VI. It is an exhibition of six local artists: John C. Gonzalez, Susan Metican, Joe Joe Orangias, Jeannie Simms, Nick Sullivan and Thomas Willis.
From the Gallery’s website: Now in its sixth installment, Proof Gallery asked three Boston artists to each choose another local artist to exhibit with. The result is an exciting cross section of the Boston arts community. Spanning a range of media, the participants in Boston Does Boston Six represent the vanguard of contemporary approaches and concerns.

HERE a group show that features the work of: Ahmed Abdalla, Genara Banzon, L'Merchie Frazier, Dell M. Hamilton, Josephine Pergola, Dan McCole, Courtney Moy, and Mario Quiroz. The exhibition investigates immigration, migration, and/or family trees/legacy. Five of the featured artists have ties to South Boston. The gallery and connected events are free and open to the public.

Screening of the documentary- Adrift- co-produced by South Boston based film maker Tracy Heather Strain. The film, co-produced by Tom Curran, is a “meditative portrait of loss in an Irish American family”.

A new contemporary gallery has opened in Southie! The Thomas Young Studio.
The new show is: A Sentimental Gesture. New and recent works by Pat Falco.
Opening Reception: Saturday, January 19th, 2013, 6:00-9:00PM
Pat Falco has his studio based in the Distillery Building and co-directs Lincoln Arts Project in Waltham. His humorous works are worth checking out. The show runs until February 24th.
From the gallery website: “Thomas Young Studio is proud to present the first solo exhibition of Boston based artist, rapper and curator Pat Falco. While many of his pieces are defined by “a dry sense of humor with quirky, empathy-inspiring sketches.” His work is also exhibits a maturity beyond his years and an understanding that sometimes less is more.”
Pat is also the manager of The Distillery Gallery in South Boston.
