We are sad to announce that Tom Gailunas, uncle to CIS writer Peter Gailunas – has passed away.  A funeral Mass will be held at  Gate of Heaven Church on Wednesday at 11:00 AM.  An original and proud “Lower Ender,” Tom had a heart of gold and will be missed!  You can read his full obituary here.

He was once “Caught in Southie” and we featured a profile of him a few years back!  Hope you enjoy it!

Name: Tom Gailunas

Currently resides:  Marco Island, FL

Where did you grow up: Lovis Street.

Where did you go to school: The Bigelow School.  Graduated from Southie High in 1966.  He played Guard for the Southie High Football Team.

First place you go to when your back in town: I go right to Sully’s out Castle Island.  Best hot dogs.  I also visit with my brother Peter and his wife Susan.

Thing you miss most about living in Southie? The security and feeling so safe you didn’t have to worry.  You didn’t even have to lock the front door.
