It’s baaaack!

It’s that time of year again! Birds are chirping.  It’s staying light out later and the big yellow street sweeper will be cleaning your neighborhood streets on April 1st.  So be warned, parking restrictions associated with street cleaning begins this week.

If you are parked on the wrong side of the street, you will receive a $40 orange ticket and your car will get towed.  And that’s no fun.  So check the parking signs on your street and figure out which side it is safe to park.

A street sweeping schedule and information is available here!  Southie residents can also register for “No Tow,” a service provided by the city for residents to be reminded by email when their street is scheduled for cleaning. That’s so helpful!

This also applies to DCR and Day Blvd., Columbia Road and Old Colony Ave.  So take notice, Southie!  Watch the signs!

A necessary evil I guess, but sometimes very annoying.

Hey, it could be worse…”Councilor” Bill Linehan was in favor, actually it was his brainstorm, that it (Ticketing and Towing) should be all Year long!

Cry all you want, but this is the only thing that gets cars to move. I can’t believe the number of vehicles that sit, unmoved for the entire 5 month street sweeping hiatus. If you use your car every day, street cleaning isn’t an issue. Most of the side streets are cleaned between 10AM and 3PM – standard work hours. If you’re not moving your car frequently enough to be able to avoid street cleaning, do the rest of us commuters a favor and get it off the streets. Lord knows parking in Southie is difficult enough without the streets acting as a long term parking garage.

This is great! All the cars that have been sitting since street cleaning ended in November have to move. You know who you are………the cars that have been sitting all winter covered in snow and never moved. This is worse thatn saving parking spots with cones or barrels. I hope you don’t read this and get towed.

Rumor mill is that Mayor is considering doing away with towing and just upping the stret cleaning ticket to 100. Plus is all money goes to city. Downside is those cars that still won’t move and the street won’t get clean, think i would rather have towing so the place doesn’t turn into a shithole

We have to ask about this ……a few weeks ago the Mayor said he wasn't starting the 1st of April…the streets are gross from the winter so I hope they do…..

You can tell no one from Southie comments on this site anymore by the complete lack of spelling and grammar mistakes. I guess they have all been alienated.

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried. In fact, we are all dumber from having read your comment. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
