Up, up and away

Would you be surprised to learn that Pleasure Bay aka “the Lagoon” in Southie is a global hot spot for kiteboarding?  Thanks to the flat waters and ideal wind coming from Boston Harbor, kiters from all over the world come to Pleasure Bay.   It was here at this very South Boston location, that three international kiters met and an idea was born for a new business.  Founders Leo Koenig from Germany, Ytzen Zeilstra from the Netherlands, and Johnny Hujol – from France, came up with the concept to launch WOO Sports.

The WOO is a device that clips onto your board and will track every jump including height, airtime, and more.  Think Fitbit for extreme sports enthusiasts.  Woo connects wirelessly with your iPhone to reveal your results.  You can post on social media to and brag to your buddy that you just caught 20 feet of air at Pleasure Bay.  You can also see how you stack up worldwide again pros, amateurs, rookies, and veterans.  WOO Sports is also conveniently located in South Boston which makes testing their product convenient.

“Butter flat water, five minutes from downtown, cool people, chill vibe and two minutes away from my office. Cant beat that,” says Leo Koenig, CEO.

So now when you see the sea of kiters filling the air above Pleasure Bay, you know that most of them are tracking their sessions with WOO – created right here in #Southie.
