And being the head stylist at Rue LaYuppie La qualifies you to decide how my tax dollars are spent?? We’ve got enough idiots on the hill… Well… You could do worse… But I think you should run for representative FIRST because our current State Rep will be running for the Senate seat…
  2. Brian February 7, 2013 at 9:11 pm
Rue LaYuppie La showed a lot of creativity. If something is nice or expensive it is automatically deemed yuppie. Best of luck Maureen.

Well she is an excellent dancer.  Gotta be better than Nick Collins, right.  He has no rhythm at all.

  4. Andrew February 7, 2013 at 9:37 pm
Good for you Maureen! You bring a lot to the table. Good luck and ignore the haters!
  5. Anonymous February 7, 2013 at 10:07 pm

I know personally that Maureen has raised thousands of dollars for Julie’s Family Learning, St. Peter Academy and the Laboure. She is a proud South Bostonian true and true with the South Boston Citizen of the Year under her belt. She does all this while being a mother of three, working full time, and looking amazing. If you ask people born in Southie and people new to Southie about her, they always mention her kindness and creativity. I will proudly vote for her and so should you! It’s time for a woman to represent us, Southie!

Holy shit people. If you don’t agree with her, then don’t vote for her. What’s the point of taking to her website to trash the decision? Isn’t it nice when people want to get involved and make a difference regardless of political views?

It’s a lot more respectable than slamming someone online anonymously. Before you go there, I get the irony of that last statement.

Good luck Maureen, everyone has the right to run. I think you have alot to offer.

You don’t even answer your caught in southie email and you want to run an office? Must be a joke.
  10. Anonymous February 8, 2013 at 2:48 am
Maureen is a beautiful intelligent and classy south boston woman. She would represent our community and the entire 1st Suffolk district very well. Politics aside everything she has ever done has been successful and done with class. I commend her for being brave enough to challenge a local politician who is known for bullying tactics. I guess I should add that to my list of adjectives as well. Why not Maureen? Why does (the still wet behind the ears)rep get first shot? Since when is it so unimaginable for a political outsider to upset a career politician? It’s 2013 folks. Get with the times. Over-conservatism is not the way to go. Show them what a smart women with guts can do, Maureen. Pay no mind to the close-minded collins followers holding on to yesteryear. It’s a new day.

Rep Forry will now just walk into office, the seat is 160,000 and Southie is 25 percent of the district. People need to understand that you can come out of the blue and run for an open state rep seat or an a district councilor seat. However, this seat is of the utmost importance to us, there is so much at stake between massport expansion and convention center expansion. Not to mention development, and all of the other things going on in the rest of this huge district. You have the highest murder rate in the state in dorchester, maybe up there in the country per capita. I’m sorry but to learn the legislative process from square one while trying to oversee the day to day in this district is next to impossible. We have to fight for everything we have as far as resources and now isn’t the time to do an open casting call for senate. I’m sorry but from moakley, bulger, lynch, then to hart where is the pride in this seat and in our leadership. This is almost as bad as Southie people pushing our council seat to Chinatown. Almost as a bad. If we are to have another candidate from Southie please give me someone with some real experience out here and that can win votes in the rest of the 3/4 of the district. The progressives in dorchester made it clear that this is not a Southie seat and they want it, so will we hand it to them and make this into a social event and have fun with a campaign.

“Close-minded Collins Followers” is painting with a broad brush.  You should learn a little tact when it comes to supporting your candidate, whoever it is.  You’re much better off focusing on who you support’s good qualities instead of trying to sully the name of someone else.

  18. Christine Connolly Boyda February 8, 2013 at 2:44 pm

Maureen Dahill is a graduate of Boston College!  Make no mistake, she is very intelligent and will quickly learn what she needs to know to successfully represent her district.  She is proud to be a lifelong South Boston resident and she has chosen to stay and raise her three kids there.  She is a smart, articulate, personable woman who knows people from all over the city, not just in South Boston.  She will work hard and she will do a great job as Senator.

  19. Anonymous February 8, 2013 at 6:56 pm

Boston College is so over rated. Doug Flutie ruined that school.

  20. jj February 8, 2013 at 7:29 pm

    Deval too

  21. Whitey B February 8, 2013 at 10:51 pm
Good luck Maureen! Don’t listen to the haters.

Anyone questioning Maureen’s pedigree to run would be wise to remember Nick’s lack anything substantial on his resume before becoming rep. I don’t even hold that against him, god bless him for jumping in, but you can’t tell me the first posts here criticizing Maureen weren’t done by nicks ppl. Nick spent a couple years holding jacks coat and was unemployed and living with his mom when he announced for rep. Plus Maureen’s mother, father and brother don’t work for a sleazy real estate tycoon like Nicks do.

Nicky Shouldn’t be complaining either, many ppl in the neighborhood have pushed Maureen to run, some former nick supporters I hear, because they’ve lost confidence in him. He’s made more enemies than friends since becoming rep, and that’s because of his abrasive style and pompous attitude. You get what you give.

  22. Old School February 9, 2013 at 12:24 am

Too bad two nice families from South Boston going at it, and for what, Rep Forry just walked into the Senate Seat!!

  23. Anonymous February 9, 2013 at 3:27 am
Nick is good people. He has always been a good peron and a friend to south boston. I consider him a friend
Maureen is a wonderful person. She is the epitome of class. She has also been a fine example of what it means to be from south boston. I love her
    I love them both.
I hope mudslinging by third parties do not diminish the respect that these two have for each other and for each others’ extended families.
  24. The Greek February 9, 2013 at 3:31 pm
Thank you for running. This is not Dorchester’s seat, certainly not Collins’ seat… It’s our seat! I look forward to great race.
  25. Anonymous February 10, 2013 at 1:55 am
This is truly turning into a circus.. What next? Obamas illegal aunt from L st. For Nicks seat ???
  26. Anonymous February 10, 2013 at 6:18 am
You are so right 2 great people I love them both but its not personal a seat came up and anyone can go for it love nick but go girl.
Maureen is an amazing woman and she can make a difference in this state she cares and is not only smart but a beautiful woman inside and out. I know my mum her grandmother would be so proud… “i am woman hear me roar” be confident be strong and just be you!
  27. Anonymous February 11, 2013 at 1:52 am

Wow! Didn’t like some comments? It seems much more “clean” around here today! Loads of comments missing. Maybe you take a note from the Dorchester Reporter and step away while running your “campaign”

  28. Chris February 13, 2013 at 3:47 am

This is not a Southie seat.  It is what it is.  Give the seat to Chinatown?  Its not yours to give.  You would be only so blessed to get real leadership out of Chinatown, something Southie falls flat with.

  29. Paul Adams Sr. February 15, 2013 at 6:30 pm

I know both Nick and Maureen. Typically it is very healthy for South Boston to have more than one Candidate for a Seat. Both are lifetime Southie Residents. However, the “Lions Share” of the District is in Dorchester. That said, it makes it more probable that each of these Candidates will split the vote in Southie, giving the Seat to Linda Dorcena Forry. I’ve heard good things about Linda, but the question is…how much, if any, interest does she have in representing Southie? It is my humble opinion that giving these cercumstances all the resourses should be “spent” on one Candidate so that Linda could be beat. It is going to be an “up-hill” battle to begin with, let alone two Southie Candidates taking votes from each other…Side Note: It was brought to my attention that Linda Dorcena Forry is backing Ed Markey for U.S. Senate. Nevermind that she lives in Stephen Lynch’s District! So, we need to do the right thing to beat her!!!

  30. Paul Adams Sr. February 15, 2013 at 6:36 pm

Is there really any need to caricature assassinate Maureen? I think both Candidates are good Candidates. However, we should be focusing on beating Linda Dorcena Forry.

  31. Paul Adams Sr. February 15, 2013 at 7:01 pm

After reading all of these responses it is my opinion that there should be one Candidate for this Seat. I know both Nick and Maureen. Both are lifelong South Bostonians. Both would bring their unique talent to the First Suffolk District Senate Seat. However, having two Candidates would in effect hand the Seat to Linda Dorcena Forry. There are but three Months to this special election. As you are all aware, the “Lions Share” of the District is in Dorchester. That plays well for Linda. That said, I’m hoping someone will have ths sense to wait for another Seat to run for. One more thing, I’m hoping the insults in here aimed at both Candidates will cease!

  32. Anonymous February 16, 2013 at 3:16 am
    Wrong race lady!
  33. Surevoter March 4, 2013 at 11:08 pm

Dear Maureen, I regret to inform you that I will not be voting for you. The fact of the matter is that I was going to vote for you no questions asked. However, because of your Politically expedient discision to advocate for GLIB to march in the Saint Patricks Day Parade, all bets are off. I am not Anti-Gay, nor am I a Homophobe. I just firmly believe that a Parade that honors the Patron Saint of Ireland IS NOT the Forum to advertise your sexual preference! In case you forgot, the US Supreme Court voted unanimously (9-0) in favor of the “Parade Orginizers” that the Parade is no place to be forcing an agenda on People that simply want to watch a Family Parade. I will not be voting for Linda Dorcena Forry as well. So, you do the Math.

  34. Surevoter March 4, 2013 at 11:11 pm

Did you expect her to advocate for GLIB to march in the St. Patricks Day Parade? Just wondering. I was going to vote for her until she made a (bad) Politically expedient decision! Oh will. So it goes!

  35. Allen March 6, 2013 at 4:49 am

Reading the comments on this board is a great example of the ‘Dumbing Down of Southie’. Having 2 candidates in the race effectively gives the race to Linda Dorcena Forry. Nick Collins is a straight shooter and a politician. Maureen Dahill is a fashion stylist and a self proclaimed ‘excellent dancer’, which means she has zero chance of ever winning the election.  Is she that delusional that she thinks she can win? Or is she just a ruse by Local 718 to ensure that Linda wins the race? Either way, you can thank Maureen for breaking decades of tradition and transferring the seat to a Dot politician. Do you think Maureen will wear something fashionable and show off her dance moves at Linda’s victory party? Will Linda’s victory party be ‘on the house’ at Florian Hall? Stay tuned for the next episode of the Dumbing Down of Southie.

  36. Steve March 6, 2013 at 4:57 am

She does havea lot to offer. She is a dancing queen who plays dress-up down at the yacht club with her hack followers. Forget about the economy, jobs, taxes, water front development, drugs, crime etc. It’s all about the fashion and the dance moves baby.

  37. Anonymous March 12, 2013 at 4:13 am

You just showed the electorate what your priorities are, Maureen. You’d rather push the gay agenda than focus on the real issues that impact Southie like crime, drugs, education, too much real estate development etc. This election will be over quickly for you.  You’ll be back blogging and disco dancing with your gang of followers in no time.

  38. Anonymous March 12, 2013 at 4:18 am

I haven’t heard speak one word of anything substantive. She’s too busy pushing her radical, anti-family agenda.

  39. allwaysvotes March 16, 2013 at 7:19 pm

Hey Allen, you act as if people should dispose of their alienated right to choose the Candidate of their choise so as to comply with this “time honored tradition” of electing a Southie Candidate. I say Rubish! This Seat DOES NOT BELONG to SOUTHIE! End of Story. Furthermore, you are not a good ambassador for your Candidate. People will feel that this is Nick Collins’ position on this Election.

  40. votesallthetime March 16, 2013 at 7:23 pm

I agree, but where were you when Suzanne Lee was running? Oh, that “Woman” stuff went out the Window then huh?

  41. longtimevoter March 16, 2013 at 7:43 pm

Hey “Come on”….I say BS! The Elected “Officials” in Southie are sell-outs. While they go around to Public Meetings saying things like “We’re losing too many longtime Southie People who are being priced out of Town”, the fact of the matter is that these Developers are in their Pockets. Just look at it closely, 50% of Linehans “Donations” came from Development and Liquor interest. One of Nick Collins’ largest donator was MCM Properties. Which, by the way, Employess half his Family. So, don’t give me this crap about these “Loyal South Boston Elected Officials”. Wake up and smell the Coffee! The only People who get “taken care of” by these Hot Air Balloons are their own Family. If you don’t think so, just take a look at the “Jobs” they have. I’ll quote Judge Judy here…”I know when it’s Raining out, and when someone is Pissing on my Leg”!

  42. P.A. the D.J. March 16, 2013 at 7:46 pm

Hey Chris…It’s better to be thought a Fool, than to open ones Mouth a remove all Doubt! This is a Distric 1 Senate Race.
