New Executive Director of the “Ollie”

A letter from Kathy:

Dear Friends,

I am so excited to begin a new position here at the South Boston Neighborhood House as Executive Director.  “The Ollie” as we are affectionately known, is near and dear to my heart — I was a participant in Ollie Programs as a kid growing up in South Boston and have great memories of summer day camp, cooking classes and girls group. The Ollie, and the people who worked here then, made a difference in my life.  Today, my children are 5th generation Ollie participants and I am so grateful for everything the Ollie has meant to my family and me over the years.

I started my career at the Ollie as the Director of the Day Camp Bus and then full-time Director of Teen Programs and have held a variety of positions during the past 20 years. The programs that we provide are critical to our families and help to make South Boston a healthier community.  Our outstanding staff is dedicated to fostering the personal growth of our participants in a supportive and nurturing environment. From infants to seniors and all the youth in between – I believe that we continue to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve each and every day. I hope that my work as Executive Director will guide and lead this great organization and help to ensure another 100+ years of service to our community.

We are grateful to our Board of Directors, our supporters & friends and our staff. Our continued success depends on those who believe in our mission, our staff whose devotion and hard work is second to none and our donors whose generosity enables us to continue our important work supporting family and neighborhood life in South Boston.

With sincere thanks,
Kathy Lafferty – Executive Director
