In the ever-changing landscape of restaurants in South Boston, The Social Register is a welcomed addition. With rich black leather booths and white linen table cloths, the dining room is elegant and inviting. There are banquets along the wall of the dining room with throw pillows and gilded topped tables that are cozy and perfect for sharing small plates and a cocktail. There are two bars at the Social Register including The Penny Bar lounge which is literally covered in copper pennies has 15 seats and offers a fantastic cocktail menu including the Hot and Dirty. This cocktail mixed spicy and smooth to perfection.  They also have some of the best sangria around!

Instead of tradition menu of appetizers and entrees, The Social Register offers dishes that are designed for sharing including lamb lollypops, crab cake sliders, tacos, grilled flatbreads, and scallop and lobster ravioli.

The fondue with seared steak was beautifully presented with a tiny copper pot of savory warm cheese and deliciously tender cubes of steak for dipping. The crab cake sliders were served on house made rolls that complimented the soft flavorful crab cakes with cucumber wasabi slaw. The tacos were filled with jerk chicken with Caribbean-spiced chicken, pineapple, avocado, pico de gallo, corn salsa and lime sour cream. The generously portioned sear tuna salad featured a pleasing piece of sesame encrusted tuna with light teriyaki glaze seated atop fresh and crispy salad of kale and broccoli with avocado and cucumber. The wasabi dressing added just the right kick.

To round out the meal, the chocolate bread pudding. Featuring a rich combination of buttery french croissant, maple, and caramel topped with vanilla ice cream, every last bite of this dessert was eaten!

The Social Register is guaranteed to become a neighborhood hot spot – especially for groups of friends who love to eat and drink!

Yummy! This sounds like a cool restaurant, with some rather delicious food! The main dishes sound great, and the chocolate bread pudding sounds fantastic to me, as a chocolate lover!

    Hope this place stays open…forever!
