Maureen Dahill - Thank you for visiting CaughtinSouthie.com. I am proud to say that I was born and raised and continue to live in good old South Boston. I know many people conjure up a stereotype when they think of a person from Southie – you know an uneducated, smoking, drinking, fighting, slightly scary person – but that is not the norm. Most of the people I know are hardworking, caring and generous folk that look out for one another. I loved growing up in Southie, so much so that I married a Southie guy and we are raising three kids (Grace-14, Peter-7, and Henry-5) right here in the hood. Both my husband and I are college educated. He graduated from UMASS Boston and I graduated from Boston College (go Eagles). I even went on to get a Master’s Degree from Emerson College.
I currently work as a wardrobe and prop stylist in Boston and all over New England for the prestige agency Team Artist Representatives. My work can be seen in many commercials, print pieces and editorial spreads in such publications as The Boston Globe Magazine, The Improper Bostonian and Boston Magazine. Very exciting and glamorous stuff!
I love telling stories about my hometown to people who aren’t from Southie. The stories I tell are usually funny ones from my childhood (the cigarette stealing dog), or from my teenage years (fun behind the Annex) or my summer home away from home the Boston Harbor Yacht Club (we don’t own a boat). Often the stories I tell involve the people I have met along the way and often those listening to the stories look at me like I’m crazy.
But they are all true - I couldn’t make them up. I believe growing up in Southie made me kind and compassionate and always looking for laughter in every life situation. This is my inspiration for this site. It’s a slice of culture from the streets of South Boston. I hope you enjoy the web site and find some interesting information that might be useful to you. But mainly I hope it adds a teeny tiny bit of joy to your day. Please visit often and spread the word. Thank you!

Megan Lee - Thank you for visiting our site – we hope you visit frequently and tell your friends.
Yes born and raised, I love that phrase. Sometimes when you meet new people in Southie, they find that amazing. I never knew anything else – so the idea of ‘amazing’ boggles my mind! One of my favorite quotes ever, I was teaching a Web Design class at BU and one of my student said to me: “wow, I have never met a real life Southie person”. I pondered that for a while – do they think I act like Will Hunting, Frank Costello or seriously, worse: Kathy Quinn – I DON’T. I chalked it up as a compliment and of course made a joke of it with my fellow ‘real life Southie friends’. On occasion I like to refer to myself as a ‘real-life Southie person’. It’s got a nice ring to it.
I have had three addresses in my ‘short’ 37 years on this planet – Gates Street for nine months, M Street for 23 years, East Sixth Street for 14, and now back to M Street. When I was little I was convinced my parents bought the house on M Street because they just had a daughter and named her Megan.
I am employed full time with the City of Boston; don’t be surprised – very scarce in this town. (Insert LOL here) I am the E-Learning Coordinator for The Boston Police Department at The Boston Police Academy in Hyde Park.
On occasion I teach Web and Graphic Design at B.U. – a few nights a week here and there. Another position I thoroughly enjoy – I think it has a lot to do with my love of being the center of attention – hey I am one of seven – ANYTHING for attention!
I have two sons; Andrew is 14 and Matthew is 9. They are ‘real-life Southie kids'. South Boston Little League, Gatey & St. Brigid CYO basketball, public skating at the ‘rink’, sailing at The Southie Yacht Club, and YES hanging at the Tynan Gym after school. I love that my sons are involved in many of the same activities I enjoyed growing up in this FABULOUS town!
