Walking in a winter wonderland!  City Hall Plaza has been transformed into a magically fun destination with all things that are great about winter!  There’s a giant ice skating loop, pop up shops, a Christmas Tree powered by a bicycle, decorations galore, wine tastings and more!  There is also a Bavarian Village with a marketplace, bratwurst, fondue and pretzels.  Also enjoy the Urban Lodge with beer, wine and snacks for sale.  We can’t wait for Boston Winter.  We wonder if there will be space savers and mounds of dirty snow too.

Sing:
Enjoy some good old fashioned caroling and make someone else’s day!  Join other kind-hearted people of the South Boston Boston-Seaport Collaborative and serenade the residents of Castle Cove and then head out and socialize with the group post caroling.  Meet up at Saturday, December 10th at 1:45pm at 307 West Broadway.   Kindly RSVP to [email protected]

Family Fun Pick:
Somewhere over the rainbow!  The Children’s Musical Theater Program of Fourth Presbyterian Church presents “The Wizard of Oz” at 7pm on Friday and Saturday nights. Children ages 5 to 12 perform all your favorites from this legendary classic musical!  This event is FREE but donations will be collected to help fund scholarships to the program!

Give:
This is the perfect time of year to help those less fortunate.  Clean out that closet and help those in need.  Mass Bay Credit Union is hosting its annual Coat and Warm Clothing drive in partnership with Friends of Boston’s Homeless Warm Hands Warm Heart campaign.  Kindly donate new or gently used winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves and socks.  Donations boxes are located in all of Mass Bay’s branches including the one in South Boston.  The charitable drive is in its fifth year and has become a vital Mass Bay Credit Union tradition that members and staff look forward to participating in every year.  Donations will be accepted until January 31st. So be kind and help.  It’s good for the soul!

Spirit:
Light it up! It’s the Annual Seaport Tree Lighting will take place on Thursday, December 9th from 5:15-6pm at the South Boston Maritime Park (intersection of D Street and Seaport Boulevard). This is event is free and open to the public and will feature cookies, cider and hot chocolate, live holiday music, a visit from Santa and a toy collection for Toys for Tots.

Decorate:
O Christmas Tree! Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, it’s time to deck the halls! Stop by and pick out a beauty at Brooksie’s Christmas tree pop up shop at 680 Dorchester Ave. near Andrew Square.  Whether you need an 8ft or a 4ft, they’ve got a wide variety.  Need a wreath for your front door?  They’ve got those too. Open daily from 10am-9pm and offering free local delivery.  Perfect for you late-night tree shoppers.

Believe:
We hear from a reliable source that Santa will be in Southie not once but twice!  First it’s Pizza with Santa at SBCA! Join your friends and neighbors at South Boston Catholic Academy on Sunday, December 11th from 11am-2pm for holiday crafts, cookie decorating, festive photo booth, games, picture with Santa and of course pizza!  Everyone knows Santa loves pizza!  $5/person, $25/family.  And the Big Guy himself will be at District Hall with lots of fun for the kids on Sunday, December 11th from 11am-2pm (Santa is magic – he can be at two different places at once). Children of all ages are welcome to join us for this free event with cookie decorating, hot cocoa & a photo op with Santa. All of the walls at District Hall are writable and will have coloring activities and games for the kids to play! They’ll be showing some favorite holiday movies and spreading holiday cheer.Do a little shopping while you’re there too!  There will be a bunch of pop ups including Southie’s Fete Collection, Wears+Wares and Habit!  Guests are encouraged to bring grocery and department store gift cards for our friends at South Boston Neighborhood House.  RSVP here!
