Eat/Drink/Be Merry:
Get into the holiday spirit! On Thursday, December 4th take part in the South Boston Holiday Stroll!  This fun-filled event takes place from 4pm to 8pm.  Sip, shop, and dine your way around Southie and take advantage of special discounts and one-night only promotions at local shops and restaurants.  Enjoy one night of incredible savings at more than 20 local retail establishments, restaurants, salons and specialty pop-up shops throughout South Boston!  For a full list of participants visit: https://caughtinsouthie.com/get-holiday-spirit  On Friday, December 5th the neighborhood of Fort Point will host their holiday stroll from 4pm-8pm.  Shop local!  It’s good for everyone!

Watch:
Nothing gets us more in the Christmas spirit than a good old fashioned neighborhood tree lighting!  Here in Southie we will be having  three  – yes, three – tree lightings in the ‘hood. Thursday, December 4th – 5pm  As part of the South Boston Holiday Stroll, a tree lighting will take place in front of the South Boston Library on East Broadway.  Enjoy hot chocolate, cookies, caroling, Santa and a gingerbread house contest on Thursday, December 4th at 5pm.  On Friday, December 5th at 5pm Santa Claus and his posse of merrymakers will be on hand for this tree lighting.  Reindeer, snowmen, and gingerbread will be singing, dancing and getting the crowd fired up at M Street Park.  Light refreshments will be served. The West Broadway tree near the municipal lot will have its official tree lighting celebration on Wednesday, December 11th at 6:30pm.  Talk about holly jolly!

Play:
“B 14!”  It’s Bingo Night at the South Boston Neighborhood House (136 H Street) on Friday, December 5th at 7pm to help raise funds for the Ollie (SBNH).  $25 for ten games of non-stop fun and excitement.  There will be a cash bar, prizes and surprises!  Bring a snack for the table. See:
“Ya got trouble! Right here in River City!” Who doesn’t love the The Music Man!  Head out this weekend and see the Fourth Presbyterian Church Children’s Theatre performance of the classic musical with songs like 76 Trombones, and ‘Til There Was You.  Over 40 children will be signing and performing.  This event is free and open to the public.  Shows are on Friday and Saturday at 7pm at the Fourth Presbyterian Church (340 Dorchester Street).

Believe:
Believe in the the magic of Santa and come have pancakes with him right here in Southie.  St. Peter Academy presents Breakfast with Santa on Sunday, December 7th at 10am.  The Lithuanian Club (368 West Broadway) will be transformed into winter wonderland and a perfect spot for Santa to come by and visit all the good girls and boys of South Boston.  This event will feature breakfast, one photo with Santa, arts and crafts projects, and fun and games!  Tickets are $20 per family (2 adults/2 children) and benefit the children of St. Peter Academy.  Each additional person is $5.  To purchase tickets call 617.268.0750

Support:
Support Julie’s Family Learning Program.  It’s the annual fundraiser and dinner for an amazing local institution – Julie’s Family Learning Program – on Thursday, December 4th at 7pm at Florian Hall (55 Hallet Street).  Tickets are $50 and help support this community based support and education program helping low-income female headed families break the cycle of poverty. Run:
Lace up those sneakers and get ready to run for a great local school – South Boston Catholic Academy.  On Saturday, December 6th at 10am join your friends and neighbors and run a 5K race along the South Boston beaches.  Start and finish is at South Boston Catholic Academy at 866 East Broadway. There is also fun for the kids on deck too with two youth races.  At 9:15 – 100 Meter Dash for kids (9 and under) and at 9:30 a 1/2 mile run (14 and under). If you preregister by December 5th, it’s $20.  Post-registration is $25.  Youth preregistration is is $8 and post-registration is $10. Be Inspired:
It’s officially the start of the Christmas season this weekend with the annual Laboure House Tour.  One of Southie’s favorite traditions, the Christmas House Tour will feature homes in the around South Boston from modern to traditional.   Five homes decorated for the holidays will highlight the creative visions of local designers and provide ideas for making your own home more festive this Christmas.  The tour will also give you the opportunity to start your Christmas shopping  at the House Tour Christmas Sample Sale Shoppe. A twilight tour will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, and a daylight tour Sunday, Dec. 7, from noon to 4 p.m. Tickets for the twilight tour are $80 and will include a complimentary food and drink. Tickets for the Sunday tour are $25 in advance or $30 if purchased on the day of the tour.
